What is an Artificial Neural Network?

An artificial neural network is the structure of interconnected nodes divided into various layers by which the information flows from the the input to the output layer via some hidden layers.

The structure of the artificial neural network is same as of the structure of the neurons in our brain.That’s why they are known as artificial neural networks.

Let’s take an example of a neural network given below. It’s basically comprised of three layers

1.Input layer

2.Hidden layer

3.Output layer

The input layer recognizes the various inputs patterns and those pattern are filtered by the the hidden layers and finally it activates the neurons present in the output layer. Let’s assume the input layer is recognizing length parameter and the output layer will give the output as big or small on the output layer.All the recognition is based on the mathematical calculation between the various layers.
